Job summary

University of California - Irvine Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support patient care in a busy hospital environment. You will help with vital signs, hygiene, patient comfort, and daily unit operations to ensure high-quality care.

The role requires CNA certification or active enrollment in a nursing program with clinical experience, plus current BLS. Weekend and holiday coverage is expected, with adherence to safety and confidentiality policies.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
• Must be CNA or enrolled in accredited nursing program with completion of at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Nursing Assistants hired prior to May 2010 who did not possess certification as a Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) are not required to obtain it at this time.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (must be issued by the AHA).
• Approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Taking and recording vital signs.
• Assisting patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintaining a clean and safe unit environment.
• Stocking unit supplies and operating hospital equipment as directed.
• Performing routine clerical tasks and assisting with other related duties as assigned.
