Job summary

University of California, Irvine Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support nursing staff by taking vital signs, assisting with hygiene, and keeping units clean and safe. You will help stock supplies and operate hospital equipment as directed.

Candidates must have English proficiency, a valid BLS, and nursing-related certification or enrollment; weekend/holiday availability is required. Background checks and health evaluations apply.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to float between the Orange and Irvine locations.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be Certified Nurses Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or enrolled in accredited nursing prog. with completion of at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (must be issued by the AHA).
• Approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• The Nursing Assistant aids professional and technical nursing personnel by taking and recording vital signs.
• Assists patients with hygiene and elimination and maintains a clean and safe unit environment.
• Assists with stocking unit supplies and operating hospital equipment as directed.
• Performs routine clerical tasks and assists with other related duties as assigned.
