Brief Position Description:
Rose Haven is seeking a compassionate and dedicated person to join us in providing services directly to the women, marginalized genders and children that we serve within a low-barrier, drop-in, day space setting.
The Community Resource Associate position will give you the opportunity to serve our guests seeking support from our Advocacy team, who provide connections to community resources, direct financial assistance, and emotional support. You will become familiar with Portland's social service landscape and learn how to direct guests towards resources that may meet needs that exceed Rose Haven's scope. You will also gain skills in learning how to provide responsive support to guests who have experienced marginalization and trauma.
Day in Life of JV
The majority of time during morning service hours will be spent assisting guests in signing up for Resource Advocacy meetings, holding one on one meetings with them, and connecting them with simple financial assistance transactions and resources. Depending on what the greatest guest needs are, afternoons would be spent floating in the space alongside Community Care Advocates, engaging in follow up Resource Advocacy, and/or addressing their administrative tasks. At the end of each day's service, they would participate in a staff debrief. The full Advocacy team, including the Director, are in active communication and collaboration throughout the entire day.
