The Activities Assistant supports all activity functions to ensure ongoing programs meet the interests and well-being of residents, in accordance with standards and regulations.

Essential Activities and Tasks

Care Management and Service Delivery - 70%

• Performs daily activity functions to meet residents' interests and well-being.
• Encourages and assists residents with hobbies and crafts.
• Assists bed-bound residents with visits, letters, hobbies, etc.
• Makes routine visits and assists with crafts, projects, etc.
• May assist with transporting residents to/from dining and off-site activities.
• Interacts with residents to ensure quality care and positive relations.
• Maintains open relationships with resident families, responding professionally to requests or concerns.
• Communicates with residents or families for activity information.
• Provides reading materials in Braille, tapes, and recordings as needed.

Operations Management - 20%

• Coordinates scheduled activities like parties, movies, and games.
• Assists in developing evening activity schedules.
• Completes monthly activity logs for activities led.
• Communicates needs for supplies/equipment.
• Attends meetings and training as scheduled.

Quality, Compliance, and Risk Management - 10%

• Develops and oversees written plans of care for residents.
• Maintains and reviews all charts and documentation for compliance.
• Maintains confidentiality of resident information and rights.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in activities preferred; healthcare setting experience is a plus. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Working conditions include standing, sitting, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working weekends, evenings, and holidays. Exposure to infectious waste and disease is possible.
