Job summary

Essex Meadows is seeking a hospitality-focused Activities Assistant to join our dedicated team in Essex, CT. The role supports the Community Life Services Director in implementing programs addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of residents.

You will help plan activities, coordinate events, and provide diverse engagements—from cultural events to religious services—while upholding safety and dignity. Flexibility to work nights and weekends is required in this rewarding setting.

Qualifications

• One year experience in a social or recreational program preferred.
• Experience in geriatrics, recreation or social administration preferred.
• Must have the ability to solve practical problems and to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations and to use appropriate judgment to protect the safety and dignity of the resident.
• Flexibility with hours - will involve nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assists with planning and coordinating activities with the Community Life Services Director.
• Organizes activities and events, discussion groups and clubs, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, and in-house movies.
• Coordinates IT support and instructional courses such as arts & crafts, seminars, workshops, and presentations.
• Facilitates health and fitness activities and customized activities for Alzheimer/Dementia and Parkinson residents.
• Supports holiday parties and off-property trips and marketing events.

Job description

Position: Activities Assistant

Shift Available: 9 hours per week, including weekends

Pay: $18/hr. - $21.75/hr.

The Activity Assistant works in accordance with established policies and procedures, under the instruction from the Community Life Service Director. The Activity Assistant position is to help implement programs designed to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the community residents.

Primary Responsibilities:
