Job summary

Essex Meadows in Connecticut seeks an Activities Assistant to support the Community Life Services Director by implementing programs addressing residents' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. You will help plan activities, events, and cultural experiences to enrich daily life for seniors in our community.

The role involves coordinating religious services, entertainment, trips, and in-house activities, with opportunities to support IT, movies, and instructional courses.

Qualifications

• One year experience in a social or recreational program preferred.
• Experience in geriatrics, recreation or social administration preferred.
• Must have the ability to solve practical problems and to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations and to use appropriate judgment to protect the safety and dignity of the resident,

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate activities and events with the Community Life Services Director.
• Provide sensory stimulation and cultural activities.
• Coordinate religious services and special entertainment.
• Organize off-property trips and special events.
• Offer in-house movies, IT support and instructional courses (arts & crafts, seminars, workshops, presentations).
• Develop health & fitness activities and customized programs for residents with Alzheimer’s, Dementia or Parkinson’s.

Job description

Pay: $18/hr. - $21.75/hr.

Essex Meadowsisseekinga hospitality focused Activities Assistant to join our dedicated team. The Activity Assistant works in accordance with established policies and procedures, under the instruction from the Community Life Service Director. The Activity Assistant position is to help implement programs designed to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the community residents.

Assists with planning and coordinating with the Community Life Services Director:

• Activities and events,
• Sensory stimulation
• Cultural activities
• Religious services
• Special entertainment
• Off-property trips
• Special events
• IT support
• In-house movies
• Instructional courses; such as, arts & crafts, seminars, workshops, presentations
• Health & fitness activities
• Customized activities for Alzheimer/Dementia and Parkinson affected residents, marketing events

Flexibility with hours - will involve nights and weekends
