Job summary

Essex Meadows in Connecticut seeks an Activities Assistant to support the Community Life Services Director by implementing programs addressing residents' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. You will help plan activities, events, and cultural experiences to enrich daily life for seniors in our community.

The role involves coordinating religious services, entertainment, trips, and in-house activities, with opportunities to support IT, movies, and instructional courses.

Qualifications

• One year experience in a social or recreational program preferred.
• Experience in geriatrics, recreation or social administration preferred.
• Must have the ability to solve practical problems and to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations and to use appropriate judgment to protect the safety and dignity of the resident,

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate activities and events with the Community Life Services Director.
• Provide sensory stimulation and cultural activities.
• Coordinate religious services and special entertainment.
• Organize off-property trips and special events.
• Offer in-house movies, IT support and instructional courses (arts & crafts, seminars, workshops, presentations).
• Develop health & fitness activities and customized programs for residents with Alzheimer’s, Dementia or Parkinson’s.
