Qualifications

• One year experience in a social or recreational program preferred.
• Experience in geriatrics, recreation or social administration preferred.
• Ability to solve practical problems and to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations and to use appropriate judgment to protect the safety and dignity of the resident.

Responsibilities

• Assists with planning and coordinating activities and events.
• Supports discussion groups & clubs and cultural activities.
• Coordinates sensory stimulation, religious services and special entertainment.
• Organizes off-property trips and holiday parties.
• Provides IT support and in-house movies; supports instructional courses.
• Assists with health & fitness activities and specialized activities for Alzheimer/Dementia and Parkinson residents.

Shift Available: 9 hours per week, including weekends

Pay: $18/hr. - $21.75/hr.

SUMMARY:

The Activity Assistant works in accordance with established policies and procedures, under the instruction from the Community Life Service Director . The Activity Assistant position is to help implement programs designed to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the community residents.

Primary Responsibilities

Assists with planning and coordinating with the Community Life Services Director:

• activities and events,
• discussion groups & clubs,
• sensory stimulation,
• cultural activities,
• religious services,
• special entertainment,
• off-property trips,
• special events,
• IT support,
• In-house movies,
• instructional courses; such as, arts & crafts, seminars, workshops, presentations;
• health & fitness activities,
• customized activities for Alzheimer/Dementia and Parkinson affected residents, marketing events,
• holiday parties
• Flexibility with hours - will involve nights and weekends.
