Job summary

The City of Plantation Utilities Department seeks an experienced executive to assist the Director in managing the department responsible for water and wastewater infrastructure, including treatment, distribution, and pretreatment programs. The role includes acting as Director in the Director’s absence and ensuring compliance with city codes and procurement policies.

This exempt position emphasizes budget preparation, staff development, project oversight, and coordination with division managers

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience managing public utility operations.
• 3–5 years of supervisory experience.
• Florida Class A Drinking Water Operator or Wastewater Operator license (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Assist the Utilities Director with overall management and direction of the department.
• Coordinate operations for water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and water resources.
• Develop and monitor budgets, cost estimates, and procurement.
• Oversee staff training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
• Lead compliance programs and ensure adherence to federal, state, and city regulations.
