Job summary

The City of Pompano Beach seeks an experienced Utilities Director to lead the operation, maintenance, regulatory compliance, asset management, and continuous improvement of potable water and reuse treatment plants, wellfields, and related infrastructure.

Reporting to the Utilities Director, this role guides treatment plant operations, CIP planning, OT systems, and workforce development initiatives, ensuring safe, reliable utility services and adherence to evolving regulations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, Utility Management, or related field, or must obtain degree within an agreed time period.

Responsibilities

• Direct, coordinate, and evaluate the continuous operation and maintenance of water and reuse treatment plants, wellfields, and related infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations; serve as liaison during inspections, audits, and reviews.
• Monitor and optimize treatment processes, water quality, production efficiency, and system performance to meet customer demands while maintaining regulatory standards.
• Provide technical leadership for facility design, process optimization, and capital improvements; implement OT systems and cybersecurity enhancements.
