Job summary

The SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) – Office of Mental Health seeks a Counselor II to support adults with Serious Mental Illness on the ACT team in Spartanburg. You will provide vocational assessment, job development, and ongoing follow-along services to help clients gain and maintain competitive employment.

Responsibilities include caseload management, documentation, benefits counseling, and IPS-based interventions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in guidance, counseling or the social sciences is required.
• Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
• At least 1 year of experience with adults with SMI and 6 months in employment/educational support.

Responsibilities

• Engage ACT Team patients and build collaborative relationships to pursue competitive employment.
• Manage a caseload of up to 20 patients and maintain medical record documentation per policies.
• Provide benefits counseling and connect clients to experts as needed.
• Offer on-site and outreach support to promote stability and successful employment.
• Serve as a consultant on IPS and Supported Employment to team members.
• Provide Psychosocial Rehabilitative Services within IPS programs.
• Adhere to applicable policies including HIPAA and CARF.
