Job summary

State of South Carolina – Office of Mental Health is seeking a Counselor II / Employment Support for the ACT Team in Aiken. The role focuses on engaging adults with serious mental illness to achieve competitive employment within community settings, using IPS-based methods and strong collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in guidance, counseling or the social sciences is required.
• At least 1 year experience working with adults with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and at least 6 months providing employment/educational supports.

Responsibilities

• Engage patients on the ACT Team to establish trusting relationships aimed at competitive employment.
• Conduct vocational assessments focused on strengths, preferences, and on-the-job assessments when appropriate.
• Conduct job development and job search activities aligned with IPS and supported employment.
• Provide follow-along services to sustain employment.
• Provide psychosocial rehabilitation services related to employment.
• Manage caseload up to 20 patients and maintain medical records per policies.
• Complete collaborative documentation and EMR promptly after service delivery.
• Provide benefits counseling and refer to experts as needed.
• Offer on-the-job site support and interventions to promote stability.
