Job description

Accounts Receivable Manager fast track to Director

Location: Southern Minneapolis-St. Paul Area, Minnesota

Schedule: Hybrid, approximately 2 days per week onsite (flexible with bad weather)

Target Base Salary: $125k - $155k (some flexibility here)

The Opportunity

Four Pillars Talent is conducting a search for an Accounts Receivable Manager on behalf of a large manufacturing organization in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.

The company is seeking an experienced, hands-on leader to strengthen and modernize its accounts receivable and collections function. This person will lead an established team while improving collection performance, increasing accountability, developing more consistent operating practices, and helping the organization make better use of reporting and technology.

This is not simply a role focused on maintaining existing processes. The selected candidate will have an opportunity to evaluate how work is organized, develop the team, establish clearer expectations, improve visibility into results, and help shape the future direction of the AR function.

The position is well suited for an accomplished manager who can remain close to the details while operating with the judgment, leadership presence, and broader perspective associated with a future director-level opportunity.

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Lead an established accounts receivable team responsible for billing, collections, cash application, and related customer account activities
  • Strengthen collection performance and help reduce past-due receivables
  • Establish clear goals, responsibilities, performance expectations, and escalation practices
  • Develop a more consistent and disciplined approach to customer collections while preserving important business relationships
  • Review AR aging, collection activity, cash receipts, and other performance indicators to identify risk and establish priorities
  • Become personally involved in complex or sensitive customer matters when leadership support is needed
  • Evaluate existing workflows and recommend practical improvements to team structure, processes, reporting, and technology
  • Coach and develop supervisors and team members while building a culture of accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement
  • Support accurate month-end reporting and reconciliation of accounts receivable activity
  • Strengthen controls and improve the quality and accessibility of information provided to senior leadership
  • Work closely with Finance, Sales, Operations, Legal, and other internal partners to resolve customer account issues
  • Help lead future process improvement and automation initiatives across the AR function
What We Are Looking For
  • Significant progressive experience within accounts receivable, credit, collections, accounting, or a closely related finance function
  • Ideally a few years of experience managing and leading billing, collections, or accounts receivable teams
  • A track record of improving collection results, reducing delinquent balances, or strengthening cash flow
  • Experience leading teams through meaningful operational, organizational, or technology-related change
  • A leadership style combining patience and professionalism with clear expectations and accountability
  • Willingness to work in the details rather than managing exclusively from a high level
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret aging, collection, and customer account information
  • Solid knowledge of month-end accounting, reconciliations, controls, and the financial reporting implications of accounts receivable
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with a large ERP or financial system
  • The confidence to address difficult issues, make decisions, and communicate candidly with employees and business partners
  • Strong organization, prioritization, problem-solving, and follow-through
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred
Why Consider This Role?
  • Opportunity to make a visible impact on cash flow and business performance
  • Ability to influence the future structure, processes, reporting, and technology supporting accounts receivable
  • Established team with meaningful opportunities for coaching and development
  • Broad exposure to senior financial leadership and cross-functional business partners
  • Scope extending beyond the responsibilities of a traditional AR Manager position
  • Hybrid schedule requiring approximately two days per week in the company’s southern Twin Cities-area office
  • Competitive base salary of $125k - $155k (some flexibility here)
  • Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, retirement benefits, paid time off, and additional company-sponsored programs
  • Candidates should be local or open to relocating.
