Vaco by Highspring seeks an Accounts Receivable/Collections Specialist for a fully remote role, suitable for candidates in the EST/CST time zones. A bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of collections experience in a law-firm setting are required.

You will develop collection strategies, communicate with clients, and monitor AR/WIP to support cash flow. Responsibilities include negotiating payments, resolving billing issues, and collaborating with management to improve processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
• At least 3 years of collections experience, preferably in a professional services environment.
• Experience with insurance carriers and knowledge of self-insured retentions (SIRs) and deductibles preferred.
• Experience with electronic billing and legal accounting/billing systems preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with excellent follow-through.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, PivotTables).
• Excellent written and verbal communication with attorneys, staff, clients, and stakeholders.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

Title: Accounts Receivable/Collections Specialist

PERM

Fully REMOTE -EST timezone open to CST who can work on EST

Salary Range: $65,000-$85,000 w/Discretionary Bonus

***Must have experience working within a law firm performing collections

Responsibilities and Duties

• Review and reconcile billing, accounts receivable (AR), and work-in-progress (WIP) data to identify discrepancies, assess risk, and support collection efforts.
• Develop and implement collection strategies to improve cash flow and reduce outstanding receivables.
• Communicate with clients regarding outstanding invoices, payment status, and billing inquiries.
• Investigate and resolve billing issues, payment disputes, and account variances.
• Monitor electronic billing submissions and prepare accounts receivable and collections reports.
• Maintain accurate account records, collection notes, and follow-up activities.
• Negotiate payment arrangements and escalating issues as needed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with management and internal stakeholders to improve processes and support departmental initiatives.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience, with college-level accounting coursework.
• At least 3 years of collections experience, preferably within a professional services environment.
• Experience working with insurance carriers and knowledge of self-insured retentions (SIRs) and deductibles strongly preferred.
• Experience with electronic billing and legal accounting/billing systems highly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and excellent follow-through.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and PivotTables.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with attorneys, staff, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Strong ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage competing deadlines.
