Job summary

Michigan Educational Credit Union is seeking an Accounting & Payments Specialist to support daily accounting operations and payment processing. You will handle posting, reconciliation, electronic payments, and provide member assistance by phone with account research and inquiries.

The role interfaces with Accounting, Operations, and Member Service teams, ensuring compliance with Reg E, BSA, and fraud policies while maintaining confidentiality of member information.

Responsibilities

• Balance daily accounting and reconciliation of accounts.
• Post and review general ledger entries and transaction reports.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and out-of-balance conditions.
• Maintain documentation per retention requirements.
• Support internal controls and separation of duties.
• Process ACH, wire transfers, checks, and other electronic payments.
• Monitor payment exceptions, returns, and settlement timelines.
• Ensure payment deadlines and cut-off times are met.
• Review transactions for suspicious or unusual activity and assist fraud investigations.
• Provide member support via phone regarding account research, payments, and inquiries.
