Job summary

Southwestern Community College is seeking an accounts payable accountant responsible for accurate and timely processing, payment, reconciliation, reporting, and documentation of accounts payable and related Business Office functions.

You will process invoices, vouchers, check runs, travel reimbursements, vendor records, and maintain supporting documentation in Colleague and Core Banking systems, while ensuring compliance with state and college requirements.

Qualifications

• AA required; accounting experience may substitute for education.
• 1–2 years of office experience; basic bookkeeping preferred.
• Demonstrated competency using Excel and basic database programs.

Responsibilities

• Process invoices, requisitions, purchase orders, and related payment requests with required approvals and documentation.
• Voucher invoices and payments in Colleague; prepare reports and distribute checks per timelines.
• Maintain accounts payable records for multiple funds; process travel advances and reimbursements with supporting receipts.
• Calculate and remit use tax; prepare monthly and year-end AP reports; maintain vendor records and 1099 reporting readiness.
• Ensure proper documentation, coding, and compliance with state and college requirements.
