Job summary

Ampact seeks an Accounts Payable Specialist to manage invoice processing, payments, and grant-compliant expenditures in a nonprofit setting. You will ensure timely, accurate processing, maintain audit-ready records, and support vendor inquiries while adhering to AmeriCorps guidelines.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree in business or accounting, 3+ years in AP or accounting, and strong Excel skills to handle budget coding and financial systems.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in business or accounting, or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail with accurate invoice processing and data entry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems/databases.
• Ability to research and resolve discrepancies independently.
• Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Accounts Payable Processing & Compliance: review, code, and enter vendor invoices with proper documentation, approvals.
• Process payments (checks and ACH) on schedule and monitor due dates.
• Verify expenditures meet grant guidelines and track against budgets.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and assist with audits.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and grant policies.
• Maintain vendor records including W-9s and contact information.
• Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment issues.
• Process and distribute year-end IRS Forms 1099 and 1096.
• Assist with monthly and year-end closings and AP aging.
