Job summary

Hooker Furnishings Corporation, Shenandoah Furniture division, is seeking a detail‑oriented Accounts Payable (AP) Clerk to join our Valdese, NC finance team. The role focuses on accurate processing of invoices and supporting records to keep payments timely.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years in accounts payable, strong organization, basic accounting knowledge, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting software. High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in accounting or related field preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in an accounting or accounts payable role is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
• Familiarity with accounting software and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Gather and print all incoming invoices.
• Review invoices for accuracy and completeness.
• Mark invoices with correct accounts, dates, purchase orders, and other details.
• Enter invoices into accounting system for payment processing.
• Collect and match receiving paperwork and other supporting documentation.
• Access and manage records to support audits.
• Distribute incoming mail and process relevant documentation.
• Engage in minimal vendor correspondence regarding invoice payment statuses.
