Job Overview

The Finance Division at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking an Accounts Payable Representative to process vendor payments and maintain accurate records in the Oracle accounts payable system. This full‑time, hourly position is located in Pittsburgh, PA and reports to the Controller’s Office Team.

Core Responsibilities

• Process incoming supplier credit memos and refund checks.
• Verify and enter supplier invoices into Oracle, ensuring accurate information and timely payment.
• Apply proper discount terms and update payee information as needed.
• Respond to external supplier and campus requests regarding invoice payments.
• Monitor the Oracle Holds report and resolve payable issues.
• Review supplier statements to confirm recorded amounts match system data.
• Provide Tartan Trust Card data to departments when necessary.
• Answer telephones and respond to customer service requests.
• Add supplier sites to the Oracle supplier table.
• Backup departmental staff and handle additional general accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Prior Accounts Payable experience.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Process improvement experience is a plus.
