Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive AP or accounting experience, with team supervision.
• Experience in a high-volume, multi-entity environment.
• Strong understanding of AP lifecycle, internal controls, reconciliations, and payment processes.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are partnering with an established, privately held organization in Savannah to identify an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead its accounts payable function. This is an opportunity to join a large, complex organization with multiple business operations and a high-volume transaction environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on AP leader who combines strong technical knowledge with the ability to manage a team, improve processes, and build strong relationships across the organization and with external vendors.

What You'll Do

• Lead and oversee the day-to-day accounts payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of a high volume of invoices and payments.
• Manage, coach, and develop the accounts payable team while establishing clear priorities, expectations, and accountability.
• Oversee vendor setup and maintenance, invoice processing, employee expense reports, payment processing, and related AP activities.
• Review and resolve complex invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and vendor inquiries.
• Ensure payments are processed accurately and on schedule across multiple payment methods.
• Maintain appropriate AP controls, documentation, approval processes, and segregation of duties.
• Partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Operations, and other internal departments to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Monitor AP workflows, aging, outstanding items, and other key metrics to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, reconciliations, audits, and financial reporting requirements related to accounts payable.
• Evaluate existing processes and implement improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, visibility, and scalability.
• Serve as an escalation point for internal stakeholders and vendors while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of progressive accounts payable or accounting experience, including experience leading or supervising an AP team.
• Experience managing accounts payable in a high-volume, multi-entity, or complex operating environment strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of the full accounts payable lifecycle, internal controls, reconciliations, and payment processes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team while remaining comfortable working hands-on when needed.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments and with external vendors.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working within ERP/accounting systems.
• JD Edwards experience is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
