Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking an Accounts Payable Supervisor to coordinate daily workflow, review invoices, and ensure timely disbursements. You will develop processes and training, document controls, and lead a diverse staff in a regulated municipal environment.

You will collaborate with departments, vendors, and internal teams, enforce policies, and drive improvements in accounts payable and financial reporting while maintaining compliance with laws and regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required with two years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Experience in accounts payable processes, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in a utility, municipality, or similarly regulated entity is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily workflow of staff to ensure timely preparation, review, and approval of payment disbursements.
• Develop and implement internal controls and purchasing/contract management policies.
• Lead and train staff; provide guidance and direction on transactional documents.
• Collaborate with departments and vendors to resolve payment discrepancies and ensure accurate postings.
