Job summary

Confidential, an established manufacturing company in Hayward, CA, seeks an experienced Accounts Payable Lead to manage day-to-day AP operations on-site. You will lead a small team, oversee 200+ invoices weekly, and ensure accurate matching of PO and non-PO invoices while partnering with Purchasing and accounting.

You will drive process improvements, maintain strong internal controls, and support month-end closes and audits. A Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years AP experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounts payable experience including full-cycle AP.
• Experience leading or mentoring AP staff.
• Knowledge of invoice matching, payment processing, vendor reconciliation, high-volume AP.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP; intermediate Excel.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

About the Company

An established advanced manufacturing organization serving demanding high-technology and industrial markets is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Lead. The company provides engineered products and specialized manufacturing solutions with an emphasis on quality, reliability, and performance.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Accounts Payable Lead to guide a team of 2-3 AP professionals and manage the day-to-day accounts payable function at our Hayward facility. Reporting to the Controller, this individual will oversee high-volume invoice processing, weekly payment runs, vendor relationships, reconciliations, and process improvements while supporting sound cash management and strong internal controls.

Team Leadership & Operations

• Lead, coach, and support 2-3 accounts payable team members; set priorities, resolve issues, and maintain timely, accurate work.
• Remain actively involved in full-cycle AP processing, including a volume of 200+ invoices per week.
• Oversee two-way and three-way matching for purchase order and non-purchase order invoices.
• Identify opportunities to improve AP workflows, efficiency, accuracy, and service.

Payment Processing & Cash Management

• Own weekly payment runs; review AP aging, prioritize payments, and coordinate with the Controller on cash requirements.
• Process and release authorized payments via ACH, wire, check, and credit card in accordance with approval controls.
• Record daily auto-debits and credit card payments; identify opportunities for payment discounts and favorable terms.
• Oversee vendor setup, W-9 collection, and annual 1099 reporting.
• Reconcile vendor statements and accounts, including goods received not invoiced (GRNI) balances.
• Partner with Purchasing to resolve pricing, quantity, and receiving discrepancies.
• Serve as a responsive vendor contact and negotiate extended payment terms when appropriate.
• Maintain complete AP records and support adherence to accounting policies and internal controls.
• Assist with AP-related month-end and year-end close activities and audit documentation.
• Complete special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant accounts payable experience, including full-cycle AP responsibilities.
• Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring employees in an accounts payable function.
• Working knowledge of invoice matching, payment processing, vendor reconciliation, and high-volume AP operations.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics or a comparable ERP system; intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with careful attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Accounts payable experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience with GRNI, purchase order matching, vendor term negotiations, and AP process improvements.

This is a fully on-site position in Hayward, California, working closely with Accounting, Purchasing, the Controller, and internal stakeholders.
