Job summary

Orion180 Insurance Services, LLC is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the accounting team with daily operations, month-end close activities, and accurate financial reporting. You will assist with journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and audit support while gaining hands-on GAAP and insurance accounting experience.

The role emphasizes AP processing, vendor account reconciliation, and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of accounting or accounts payable experience
• Experience with invoice processing and vendor account reconciliation preferred
• Insurance industry experience is preferred but not required
• Proficiency in Excel and other accounting applications
• Working knowledge of general ledger and accounts payable functions
• Strong technical accounting skills with knowledge of internal controls and US GAAP
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks

Responsibilities

• Process Accounts Payable transactions: review, code, enter, and process vendor invoices accurately
• Manage vendor accounts: maintain vendor records, review statements, resolve discrepancies
• Reconcile accounts: vendor AP subledger, bank reconciliations, GL accounts
• Support payment processing: assist with vendor payments and approvals
• Maintain accurate documentation: verify invoices and supporting docs
• Produce error-free reports: generate accounting reports and suggest system improvements
• Assist with Month-End Close: prepare AP journal entries, accruals, schedules
• Support close processes: aid month-end and year-end close
• Strengthen internal controls: follow policies and look for process improvements
• Research and resolve issues: investigate discrepancies with vendors and internal teams
• Foster communication: liaise with vendors and internal stakeholders
• Collaborate with leadership: keep Accounting Manager informed
