Job summary

Sleepy Eye Medical Center in Sleepy Eye, MN is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk/Controller Assistant to support the Administration team. The role handles vendor invoices, purchase orders, and check requests while assisting with general ledger reconciliations, month-end and year-end close, and budget monitoring.

The position oversees payroll processing and asset ledger tasks, with back-up payroll duties and tax documentation maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and one year of related experience.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, payroll processing, or month-end close preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and processes purchase orders, invoices, statements, vouchers, and check requests; verifies, codes, enters, and posts vendor payments; resolves account discrepancies and vendor inquiries.
• Assists with month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations.
• Assists with preparation of the annual operating budget and monitors budget-to-actual results.
• Gathers documentation and prepares schedules supporting the annual external audit and the Medicare/Medicaid cost report.
• Processes payroll, including verifying hours, deductions, and postings; serves as back-up person for payroll.
• Maintains the fixed asset ledger and prepares depreciation schedules; prepares Form 1099s and maintains vendor tax documentation.
• Provides general administrative support to the Director of Business & Employee Relations as needed.
