Job summary

Job description

The AP/AR Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions while providing leadership and support to a team of accounting professionals. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working closely with their team, maintaining accurate processes, resolving issues, and helping improve departmental efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have strong AP/AR experience, prior supervisory or lead experience, and a process-oriented approach to managing daily accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily activities of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
• Lead, coach, and support a team of accounting professionals
• Assign and prioritize daily workloads to ensure deadlines and department goals are met
• Monitor vendor payments, customer accounts, collections, and account activity
• Review and resolve invoice, payment, billing, and account discrepancies
• Review AP and AR aging reports and assist with collection efforts
• Ensure accounting procedures and internal processes are followed consistently
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, accuracy, and efficiency
• Assist with reconciliations, reporting, and other accounting activities as needed
• Serve as an escalation point for internal and external accounting-related questions
• Partner with other departments to research and resolve accounting issues
• Train and develop team members on processes, systems, and procedures
• Maintain accurate process documentation and support ongoing process improvements
• Step in and perform hands-on AP/AR work when needed

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable experience
• Previous supervisory, team lead, or senior-level accounting experience
• Strong understanding of AP, AR, collections, reconciliations, and accounting processes
• Experience working in a high-volume accounting environment
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize work and manage competing deadlines
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Comfortable working with ERP and accounting systems
• Ability to coach, train, and hold team members accountable
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
• Equivalent professional experience will be considered

• Working in both AP and AR environments
• Supervising or leading a team in a hands-on capacity
• Managing daily accounting workflows and deadlines
• Improving processes and creating greater structure within an accounting department
• Handling escalated customer, vendor, and internal accounting issues
