Job summary

Industrial Electric, Inc. is seeking an Accounts Payable Accountant in Indianapolis, IN. This full-time, on-site role supports the accounting team with invoice processing, vendor management, and project-based cost control.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in AP or accounting, construction accounting experience, and proficiency with Viewpoint Vista and Microsoft Office. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential for timely payments and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• An associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• 2+ years accounts payable or accounting experience is required.
• Construction or project-based accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Viewpoint Vista or another construction accounting system is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Review, code, and process vendor and subcontractor invoices, ensuring accurate allocation to projects, departments, and general ledger accounts.
• Route invoices through approved processes and follow up on outstanding approvals.
• Review invoice documentation for completeness and compliance with company requirements.
• Assist with weekly payment processing and preparation of invoices scheduled for payment.
• Reconcile vendor statements and research outstanding invoices, payment questions, and discrepancies.
• Maintain vendor records and assist with new vendor setup, including collecting documentation.
• Collaborate with vendors, project accountants, project managers, and internal departments to resolve accounting issues.
• Support job-cost reporting by identifying and resolving coding or allocation discrepancies.
• Maintain electronic accounts payable records for internal controls and audit readiness.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, reconciliations, audits, and other accounting projects.

Work Arrangement: Full-time onsite. No remote or hybrid options available.

Responsibilities

As an Accounts Payable Accountant, you will support IEI's Accounting team by managing accounts payable functions, ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing, maintaining financial records, and collaborating with vendors and internal project teams.
