Job summary

You will manage the full accounts payable cycle and support project accounting, with emphasis on job costing and profitability for active projects.

The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of AP experience in construction, strong Excel skills, and hands-on Vista software expertise to ensure accurate coding, vendor payments, and timely month-end

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounts payable and accounting experience.
• Construction industry experience required.
• Strong job costing experience required.
• Previous experience using Vista software required.
• Understanding of construction accounting principles and project cost tracking.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and XLOOKUPs.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Process high-volume accounts payable invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Match invoices to purchase orders, contracts, and receiving documentation.
• Verify coding and allocation of expenses to appropriate jobs and cost codes.
• Review and maintain job costing records and project-related expenditures.
• Prepare and process vendor payments, including ACH, wire, and check runs.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end close activities, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate vendor files and support audit requests.
• Collaborate with project managers and accounting staff regarding project costs and invoice approvals.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established construction company in Fremont that is seeking an experienced AP Accountant to join their team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with construction industry experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has strong knowledge of job costing and project-based accounting.

Position Overview

The AP Accountant will be responsible for managing the full accounts payable cycle while supporting project accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Vista software and understand how accounts payable impacts construction job costing and project profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Process high-volume accounts payable invoices accurately and efficiently
• Match invoices to purchase orders, contracts, and receiving documentation

$31.33 - $ per 38.47 hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic market data.
