Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking an Accountant in the Finance Department for a full-time, non-exempt position. The role focuses on data entry, journal preparation, and accounts payable/receivable processing to support accurate financial reporting.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with 2–4 years of accounting experience, proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and familiarity with Shelby and VIVID software.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Associate degree, bachelor’s degree or Accounting Certification preferred.
• Two years’ accounting experience; more preferred with degree/cert.
• 2–4 years’ experience in an advanced accounting position preferred.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook with high accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and training of best practices.
• Audit preparation.
• Journal preparation.
• Processing and data entry of Corps Accounts Receivable and Payable.
• Processing of check batches and voucher review for policy compliance.
• Generate reports and assist with reconciliations.
