Job summary

Northwest Shoals Community College in Alabama seeks an experienced accounting professional to review requisitions, process purchase orders, and maintain procurement compliance across both campuses. This role supports faculty and staff with purchasing questions and collaborates with Accounts Payable.

The position also handles budget data entry, manual transfers, general ledger reconciliations, fixed assets tracking, and year-end close activities including 1099s.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum three years in higher education accounting or related field required.
• Two years of accounting/finance/business experience required.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and process requisitions and POs per policy with required documentation.
• Maintain purchasing processes to ensure compliance and timely PO processing.
• Process PO changes and PO open/close requests.
• Assist faculty and staff with purchasing questions and provide excellent service.
• Maintain approval queues for routing of requisitions.
• Assist with budget data entry and manual budget transfers.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable and post journal entries.
• Assist with fixed assets, reconciliation to General Ledger monthly.
• Support year-end closing processes and 1099s.
• Travel between campuses as needed.

Education

Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related field
