Interim Accounting Consultant (Remote)

Position Description:

We’re partnering with a fast-growing, mission-driven tech company in the agriculture/fintech space that is undergoing rapid transformation. They’re seeking an experienced Interim Accounting Consultant to lead high-impact finance initiatives focused on streamlining audit support, accelerating the month-end close process, and driving system and process improvements. This role offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with finance and operations leaders, introduce best practices, and guide meaningful change across the accounting function. Ideal candidates will bring a mix of hands-on experience and strategic insight, with a proven ability to lead process improvement projects in dynamic environments and help build scalable, future-ready finance operations.

Pay Rate: $60–$85/hr

Duration: 4–6 Month Contract

Responsibilities

• Lead high-impact transformation initiatives within the accounting function, with a focus on modernizing systems, optimizing workflows, and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for external audit coordination, ensuring thorough preparation, clear communication, and timely execution.
• Drive efforts to shorten the month-end close process from 19+ days to 5 days by identifying inefficiencies, improving processes, and implementing automation where possible.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable systems and processes, leveraging tools such as Asana, FloQast, and NetSuite to support operational excellence.
• Develop clear, data-informed presentations for internal teams and executive stakeholders to communicate progress, insights, and recommendations.
• Provide light general ledger support (10–15% of responsibilities) to maintain accuracy and continuity throughout transformation efforts.

Requirements

• Senior Accountant or Manager level of experience
• Consulting and client service background strongly preferred
• Month-end close, audit, and/or systems implementation experience
• Project management skills; comfortable with and ability to lead change
• Experiencce in mid-sized private companies strongly preferred
• NetSuite and Powerpoint experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work remotely (PST hours preferred), start ASAP through August, with extension likely.
