SEIU USWW is seeking an Accounting Specialist to manage accounts payable, payroll accounting, and banking activities, ensuring accurate financial transactions and compliance with regulations.

The role covers credit card administration, general ledger tasks, audit support, and HR-related accounting functions, with a focus on process efficiency and accuracy in a nonprofit labor organization setting.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field is required or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3–5 years of accounting, accounts payable, payroll, or bookkeeping experience.
• Experience with QuickBooks or comparable accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable, bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and payroll processing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable transactions, check requests, and approved payments.
• Review and reconcile credit card statements and transaction reports.
• Post journal entries and manage payroll journal entries and related cash transfers.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and monitor banking activity.
• Assist with audits, 1099 reporting, environmental tax reports, and year-end schedules.
• Support HR activities including I-9 verification and onboarding processes.
• Handle payroll-related payments and coordinate overnight deliveries when needed.
