Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Fundamental understanding of GAAP principles.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliations.
• Working knowledge of Excel formulas, sorting, lookups and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, verify, and record daily cash deposits per policy and controls.
• Perform cash reconciliations, balance activity, and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with periodic cash audits and standard accounting procedures.
• Process accounts payable invoices with proper coding to GL accounts.
• Review vendor statements, reconcile balances, and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain organized accounts payable records and documentation.
• Prepare recurring sales journal entries and assist month-end activities.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information.

From upscale dining at The Roof Restaurant overlooking the Salt Lake Valley to elegant banquets and celebrations, our team delivers exceptional hospitality, outstanding food, and memorable guest experiences. We're looking for an Accounting Operations Assistant who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and ready to build practical accounting skills as part of a supportive Finance team. Part-time | 15-20 hours/week | 3-4 shifts.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Prepare, verify, and record daily cash deposits in accordance with company policies and internal controls
• Perform cash reconciliations, balance cash activity, and investigate discrepancies in a timely manner
• Assist with periodic cash audits and support compliance with established accounting procedures
• Process accounts payable invoices by scanning, reviewing, and accurately coding expenses to the appropriate general ledger accounts
• Review vendor statements, reconcile outstanding balances, and resolve discrepancies through communication with vendors
• Maintain accurate and organized accounts payable records and supporting documentation
• Prepare recurring sales journal entries and assist with month-end sales-related accounting activities
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information and company records
• Preform additional duties as assigned

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field
• Fundamental understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting/filtering, lookups, and data analysis functions
• Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in data entry, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal stakeholders
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism when handling confidential financial information
• Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and develop practical accounting skills in a professional business environment

JOB ENVIRONMENT/OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• May be required to work outside of regular business hours, including weekends, early mornings, and holidays, to accommodate business needs
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check, as well as abide by all company policies
• Takes on additional duties as required or assigned by management

COMPENSATION: $22.00 - $25.00/hr. This range is inclusive of multiple job levels. Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.

In 1988, Temple Square Hospitality was organized to service the dining needs of those visiting Temple Square and Salt Lake City. Since then, it has grown into a full-scale catering department, a fine-dining 10th floor restaurant, and a quick-service restaurant in the lobby of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
