• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in nonprofit accounting.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Experience with individual donations, contributions, and nonprofit financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and accounting system proficiency.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, leadership, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger Accounting: Manage journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activities supporting an accurate and timely close.
• Financial Reporting: Support monthly financial reporting, financial statement preparation, variance analysis, and related accounting schedules.
• Revenue Accounting: Support accounting and reconciliations for organizational revenue while ensuring accurate financial reporting.
• Nonprofit Accounting: Maintain accounting activity in accordance with applicable nonprofit accounting standards and reporting requirements.
• Audit & Controls: Support annual audits and regulatory reporting while maintaining documentation and strengthening internal controls.
• Process & Team Support: Improve accounting workflows and reporting processes while providing oversight and support to accounting staff and cross‑functional teams.

Atlantic Group is hiring an Accounting Manager (Nonprofit) in New York, NY for our client, supporting general ledger accounting, financial reporting, contribution accounting, month-end close, and audit activities within an established nonprofit organization. This hands‑on role will manage core accounting processes, ensure accurate reporting of restricted and unrestricted contributions, strengthen internal controls, and support ongoing process improvements. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience with significant nonprofit accounting expertise and direct experience with individual donations, contributions, and donor‑restricted funds.
