Job summary

North Carolina Sound is seeking an Accounting Manager to own the day-to-day accounting for a single operating company, including the monthly close, reporting, payroll oversight, and support for the annual audit. This is a hands-on role that partners with the regional finance team.

You'll lead project accounting—revenue recognition and job costing—and help build strong controls, budgets, and KPIs while collaborating on ERP implementations.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on ownership of the monthly close.
• Strong command of GAAP, with fluency in reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Experience running close and reporting across multiple entities, branches, or subsidiaries.
• Comfort with accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, ServiceTitan) and ability to learn new ones.
• Strong Excel and data-modeling skills; ability to bring structure to ambiguity without hand-holding.

Responsibilities

• Close & reporting: Run the monthly close and deliver fast, accurate flash reports.
• Project accounting: Manage revenue recognition and job costing for projects; inventory management and cycle counts where applicable.
• Reporting & forecasting: Prepare financial package and variance analysis; manage a 13-week cash flow forecast.
• Maintain and improve controls, budgets, and KPIs; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with regional finance team on ERP and system implementations/integrations.
• Lead and develop accounting staff; ensure accurate payroll, AR, and AP.
