Job summary

AKIRA is seeking an Accounting Manager in Chicago to lead daily accounting operations, ensure GAAP compliance, and drive process improvements across eCommerce and wholesale channels. You will be hands-on in preparing financial statements and maintaining ledgers to support growth.

You will mentor a small team, supervise monthly closes, manage audits, and deliver accurate financial reporting while partnering with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Minimum 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably 2+ years in a managerial role.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• CPA designation or interest in pursuing CPA strongly preferred.
• Experience with NetSuite or similar accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Manage all accounting functions and develop, maintain, and improve accounting procedures in compliance with policies and US GAAP.
• Supervise and mentor a small accounting team and align with company expansion.
• Ensure timely monthly and annual closing processes and GAAP‑compliant statements.
• Maintain the general ledger and oversee monthly statements.
• Oversee inventory accounting and reconciliations across channels.
• Manage revenue recognition for wholesale and dropship partnerships.
• Support budgeting, forecasts, and KPI analysis.
