Job summary

Comfy Cubs is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to own the day-to-day accounting operations and strengthen financial processes for a fast-growing baby products company.

You will oversee month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting across e-commerce channels, while improving controls and scalable processes to support rapid growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with month-end close ownership.
• Experience in Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or similar role preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Experience with inventory and COGS accounting, especially in e-commerce.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate statements on time.
• Prepare and review GL entries, reconciliations, accruals, and schedules.
• Oversee AP/AR, vendor payments, customer balances, and cash applications.
• Perform bank, credit card, merchant processor, and marketplace reconciliations.
• Maintain inventory accounting, landed costs, COGS, freight, and related expenses.
• Reconcile sales and payments across Amazon, Shopify, Walmart, and other channels.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Monitor cash activity and assist with cash-flow planning and forecasting.
• Maintain chart of accounts and ensure proper classifications.
• Develop internal controls, policies, and procedures.
• Investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting issues.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax professionals.

Comfy Cubs is a growing baby products company offering thoughtfully designed essentials for babies and families. Our products are sold across major e-commerce and retail channels, including Amazon, Shopify, Walmart, Target, and other marketplaces and retailers.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day accounting operations, strengthen financial processes, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Position Overview

The Accounting Manager will oversee the company's accounting function and be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing the month-end close process, overseeing reconciliations and transactional accounting, and providing management with reliable financial information.

This role requires someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, inventory-based e-commerce environment. The ideal candidate can manage the details while also identifying opportunities to improve controls, reporting, and accounting processes as the company grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring financial statements are completed accurately and on time.
• Prepare and review general ledger entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments, customer balances, and cash application.
• Perform and review bank, credit card, merchant processor, and marketplace reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate accounting for inventory, landed costs, cost of goods sold (COGS), freight, and related expenses.
• Reconcile sales and payments across e-commerce and marketplace channels, including Amazon, Shopify, Walmart, and other retail partners.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
• Monitor cash activity and assist leadership with cash-flow planning and forecasting.
• Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure transactions are properly classified and supported.
• Develop and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
• Identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and proactively resolve accounting issues.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, and other financial partners as needed.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and other projects requested by leadership.
• Improve accounting workflows and implement scalable processes as the company continues to grow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with experience owning or significantly contributing to month-end close.
• Previous experience in an Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, Assistant Controller, or similar role preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Strong experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, AP/AR, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience with inventory and COGS accounting, specifically Amazon, is required.
• Experience working with an e-commerce, consumer products, retail, wholesale, or inventory-based business is highly preferred.
• Experience with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP/accounting systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to independently identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet recurring deadlines.
• Comfortable working directly with senior leadership in a fast-paced, growing organization.
