Job summary

PAX is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the month-end close, oversee the accounts payable function, and support complex accounting matters in a fast-paced environment in San Francisco. You will coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants, drive process improvements, and mentor junior staff as the team grows.

The role reports to the Assistant Controller and requires strong US GAAP knowledge, cost accounting experience, and CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; strong US GAAP knowledge.
• 3–10 years of progressive accounting experience in industry and/or public accounting.
• Experience with cost accounting or inventory accounting.
• Ability to coach and develop accounting staff; strong communication skills.
• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close process and oversee the accounts payable function.
• Review account reconciliations and provide OPEX/spend reports.
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants; identify process improvements.
• Manage two AP staff members and potential expansion of the team.
• Act as SME for complex balances including software and ASC 842 leases.
• Support month-end close analysis and reporting discussions.
• Handle ad hoc projects and process documentation.
