Job summary

South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) seeks a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Accounting Manager. The role leads the college's accounting operations, supervises staff, and ensures the integrity of financial records.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Finance, this position handles financial reporting, close processes, audits, and internal controls while driving continuous process improvement across the Finance team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with accounting/auditing/budgeting coursework and 4–5 years of accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP; governmental accounting, internal controls, financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit support.
• Advanced spreadsheet and financial-system skills; strong communication and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to build effective working relationships and contribute to an inclusive learning/work environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise accounting operations and staff, including workload management and training.
• Oversee month-end, year-end, and biennial closing processes and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review financial statements and required state/federal reports per GAAP and GASB.
• Serve as primary accounting liaison for audits and coordinate documentation.
• Review bank reconciliations, cash management investments, debt service, and related activities.
• Ensure accurate accounting for grants, capital assets, tuition/fees, contracts, payroll, and other activity.
• Oversee non-payroll reimbursements and funds submissions to the State Treasurer.
• Maintain internal controls and compliance with SAAM, ctclink manual, GASB, NACUBO guidance.
• Provide accounting guidance to departments and collaborate on reporting and budgets.
• Participate in council meetings on regulations and system updates.
• Collaborate with AVP for Finance on complex projects.
