Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department is seeking a Senior Accountant to support financial operations within the Business Support Services program. The role focuses on complex accounting, budgeting, grant billing, and regulatory compliance, reporting to the Accounting Manager.

Collaboration with department managers and staff is essential. The position requires GAAP/GASB knowledge, aBachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, and 4 years of government accounting experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business management.
• 4 years of progressively responsible government accounting and auditing experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex professional accounting work following GAAP, GASB, and Washington State BARS.
• Prepares and analyzes complex financial statements and reports.
• Manages reconcilations of general ledger accounts, grants and related records.
• Monitors grant revenues and expenditures and prepares related financial reports.
• Develops internal controls and assists external auditors during audits.
• Leads and supervises accounting and fiscal staff.
• Provides guidance on financial issues and compliance across departments.
