Job summary

Salt Lake Community College (UT) is seeking a senior financial leader to direct institutional accounting, financial reporting and grant/Foundation accounting. You will set standards, supervise managers, allocate budgets, and assure GAAP/GASB compliance across the college’s finances.

You will influence multi-year plans, coordinate audits, and advise Cabinet on financial risk and reporting. Strong leadership, judgement and communication are essential to support institutional strategy.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in accounting and CPA preferred.
• 5–7 years of full-time accounting experience.
• Experience supervising managers and leading accounting teams.
• Experience with GASB standards and external financial reporting.
• Proficiency with Banner or a comparable financial system.

Responsibilities

• Direct managers of general accounting, grants accounting, Foundation accounting and property control.
• Develop and manage the annual budget and review monthly budget transactions.
• Direct preparation of the College’s annual financial report in accordance with GAAP and GASB.
• Oversee financial reporting, monitoring, reconciliations and fiscal compliance for grants and the Foundation.
• Establish accounting policies, procedures and multi-year plans for accounting operations and controls.
• Represent the College’s accounting position to external auditors, USHE and the Board of Regents.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, resolve findings and implement audit recommendations.
• Lead system and software decisions to ensure data integrity across the financial ecosystem.
