Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience.
• CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA certification preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Accuracy, attention to detail, flexibility, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Manages the day-to-day accounting operations to ensure the timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
• Directly supervises accounting employees, temporary staff, interns, and/or contractors, including work assignment, coaching, performance management, and professional development.
• Participates in recruitment, selection, onboarding, promotion, discipline, and separation of employees.
• Exercises independent judgment and discretion in evaluating accounting, financial reporting, regulatory, and compliance matters, and recommends appropriate actions.
• Establishes departmental priorities, allocates resources, and monitors workflow for timely reporting.
• Collaborates with the AVP Assistant Controller to set goals and improve performance.
• Makes staffing and organizational recommendations.
• Evaluates employee performance and provides coaching and development.
• Reviews journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules for accuracy.
• Coordinates accounting activities to support monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
• Assists with preparation and review of financial statements and management reports.
• Performs analyses of financial results and explains variances.
• Supports regulatory reporting including FDIC Call Report.
• Coordinates audits and internal/external reviews.
• Reviews audit schedules and supporting work papers.
• Assists with budgeting and forecasts.
• Researches accounting issues and recommends solutions.
• Develops internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets.
• Leads process improvements to enhance efficiency and automation.
• Documents accounting procedures and SOPs.
• Supports succession planning and cross-functional initiatives.
