Greater Springfield Senior Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting activities and oversee payroll processes.

The role involves reviewing A/P, A/R, cash receipts, and general ledger entries for accuracy, preparing monthly financial statements for the Board, and supporting the annual external audit. The position entails supervising the Accounting and Payroll staff and ensuring timely, compliant reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field with over three years of accounting experience.
• Two years of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review A/P, A/R, cash receipts, and general ledger entries prior to posting for accuracy.
• Perform general ledger audits/analyses, review journal entries and adjust as necessary.
• Prepare monthly financial statements for the Board in collaboration with the Administration and Finance Director.
• Audit petty cash and reconcile to bank statements as needed.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and reconcile to check registers and G/L accounts.
• Maintain fixed asset records and perform annual inventory of assets.
• Support annual external audit by preparing workpapers and liaising with auditors.
• Ensure timely filing of reports to external entities and payroll tax reports.
• Assist with year-end W-2s and liaise with ADP for revisions.
• Recruit and train fiscal staff as needed and provide supervision.
