Job summary

MeeDerby seeks a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Springfield, MO team on-site. You’ll support day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, and internal controls for a growing ESOP staffing organization.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in Accounting and 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, with advanced Excel skills and payroll exposure. This role requires on-site availability, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel skills required (formulas, Pivot Tables, data analysis).
• Exposure to payroll accounting or multi-location operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries for month- and year-end close.
• Complete account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with monthly financial statements and schedules.
• Analyze financial data and build management reports.
• Support annual audits and regulatory reporting.
• Review AP check runs and ensure payment accuracy.
• Assist with bank reconciliations, cash management, and fixed assets.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls.
• Collaborate with payroll, HR, and branches on accounting questions.

Senior Accountant (On-site) — Springfield, MO

We’re seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Senior Accountant to join our client's collaborative Accounting team in Springfield, Missouri. In this role, you’ll support the financial operations of a large employee-owned (ESOP) staffing organization by maintaining accurate financial records, supporting close and reporting, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and controls. This is a team-first environment—cross-training and stepping in to support one another is part of the culture.

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (on-site)

What You’ll Do

This role supports day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close processes, with exposure across branch operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end close


• Complete account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies


• Assist with monthly financial statements and supporting schedules


• Analyze financial data and build reports for management review


• Support annual audits and regulatory reporting requirements


• Review Accounts Payable check runs and verify payment accuracy


• Assist with bank reconciliations, cash management, and fixed asset accounting


• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation


• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and internal controls


• Partner with payroll, HR, and branch operations to resolve accounting questions/issues

Payroll (support/backup coverage)

• Day-to-day payroll processing, tax filings, and W-2s are handled by the payroll team


• This role builds working knowledge of payroll to provide backup coverage, help answer payroll-related questions, and assist during year-end peak periods

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)


• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience (preferred)


• Advanced Excel skills (required): formulas, Pivot Tables, and data analysis


• Exposure to payroll accounting, financial reporting, or multi-location operations is a plus


• Strong attention to detail, judgment, and confidentiality


• Able to manage multiple priorities; proactive communicator and collaborator
