Job summary

Sustainment in Austin, TX is hiring an Accounting Manager to run day-to-day accounting operations, own the month-end close, and ensure GL integrity. You will manage AP, AR, payroll, revenue recognition for commercial and government contracts, and produce the board-ready monthly reporting package.

You will optimize the finance stack (QBO, Ramp, Anrok) and lead audit support while partnering with CFO to scale processes and controls in a fast‑growing, DoD/industrial context.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, including 1–2 years owning a monthly close.
• Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge with internal controls; ability to escalate when needed.
• Public accounting or audit experience (Big 4 or national firm preferred).
• CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
• Startup or high-growth company experience, ideally Series A/B.
• Hands-on experience with modern spend and tax automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Run the monthly close end to end with close calendar and timely financials.
• Maintain general ledger integrity: journal entries, reconciliations, accruals.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense management, and payroll.
• Apply revenue recognition policy across commercial and government contracts, including billing.
• Produce the monthly reporting package and schedules for board/investor reporting.
• Own budget vs. actual analyses and forecast updates.
• Administer and optimize the finance stack (QBO, Ramp, Anrok).
• Oversee sales tax compliance across jurisdictions.
• Prepare audit-ready schedules and support for annual audit.
• Coordinate with external tax/compliance partners.
• Identify slow, manual, or error-prone processes and fix them.
