Job summary

Sustainment Technologies Inc. is seeking an Accounting Manager in Austin to run day-to-day accounting operations and own the monthly close. You will manage general ledger integrity, journal entries, and the transactional cycle while reporting to the CFO.

This hands-on role requires 4–6 years of accounting experience, US GAAP know-how, and comfort with a modern finance stack (QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Anrok). Local in-office presence 3 days/week is expected.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience with 1–2 years near monthly close.
• US GAAP knowledge and strong internal controls; ability to determine when to escalate.
• Public accounting or audit background is preferred (Big 4 or national firm).
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred. Startup/high-growth experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close process end-to-end and manage close calendar.
• Maintain general ledger integrity, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, and payroll accounting.
• Apply revenue recognition policy for commercial and government contracts, including billing.
• Produce monthly reporting package and board/investor schedules.
• Lead budget vs. actual analysis and drive forecast updates.
• Administer and optimize QuickBooks Online, Ramp, and Anrok stack.
• Ensure multi-state sales tax compliance and filings.
• Coordinate with external tax/compliance partners for filings.
• Prepare audit-ready schedules and support for annual audit under CFO.
