Job summary

Chief of Staff KC is seeking a hands-on leader to oversee the general ledger accounting team and financial reporting for the division. You will work with the Division Controller to manage daily accounting operations, develop staff, and drive audit coordination and ERP improvements.

You will supervise a small team, drive the period-end close, oversee inventory and fixed asset accounting, and coordinate tax filings and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 4+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong background reporting financials under U.S. GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a small accounting team, including training and development.
• Manage period-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and GAAP-compliant reporting.
• Oversee inventory accounting and counts across locations.
• Review monthly tax filings and implement new tax requirements.
• Oversee fixed assets and lease accounting with procurement partners.
• Support technical accounting research and policy memos.
• Partner with Controller on A/P and cash activity.
• Collaborate on system implementations and process improvements.
• Serve as lead contact for auditors on inventory, revenue, assets, leases, and controls testing.

Job description

This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing the general ledger accounting team and financial reporting function for the division. You'll work closely with the Division Controller to manage day-to-day accounting operations, develop your team, and play a key role in audit coordination, ERP improvements, and compliance reporting.

What You'll Do

• Directly supervise a small team of accounting professionals, including training and development
• Manage the period-end close process, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules to ensure GAAP compliance
• Oversee inventory accounting and valuation, including coordination of periodic physical counts across multiple locations
• Review monthly tax filings and other compliance submissions; lead implementation of new tax requirements as they arise
• Manage fixed asset and lease accounting processes prepared by staff, partnering with procurement and cross-functional teams
• Support technical accounting research and new guidance implementation, including drafting policy memos
• Partner with the Controller on weekly A/P processing and daily cash activity
• Collaborate with Accounting and FP&A leadership on system implementations and process improvements
• Serve as the lead point of contact for internal and external auditors on matters related to inventory, revenue recognition, fixed assets, leases, and controls testing
• Partner cross-functionally across departments to support broader business initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required; MBA or Master of Accountancy (MAcc) strongly preferred
• CPA strongly preferred
• 4+ years of accounting experience
• Strong background reporting financials under U.S. GAAP
• Public company experience preferred
• Prior supervisory or team-lead experience preferred
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Experience with JD Edwards (JDE) and/or OneStream preferred
