Job summary

DoubleTree by Hilton Washington DC Silver Spring is seeking an experienced accounting professional to lead core accounting operations and support accurate, timely financial reporting. This role balances hands-on accounting with team leadership and cross-department collaboration.

You will drive month-end close, improve workflows, mentor staff, and work with leadership on financial insights and compliance with GAAP.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Several years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a lead, senior, or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain internal controls and help ensure compliance with applicable accounting policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Review account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and other accounting deliverables.
  • Partner with leadership to provide financial insights, explain variances, and support decision-making.
  • Assist with audits, tax-related requests, and external reporting requirements as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, enhance efficiency, and strengthen reporting processes.
  • Support, train, and coach accounting team members to promote accuracy, accountability, and professional growth.
