Position Overview

The company is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its finance organization in the Greater Philadelphia area.

Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, this is a hands-on leadership position responsible for managing accounting operations, overseeing senior and staff accountants, supporting the monthly close, and ensuring consistent application of U.S. GAAP.

The position is well suited for someone who combines strong technical accounting skills with people leadership and process improvement experience and enjoys operating in a large, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of senior accountants and staff accountants.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting activities and ensure consistent application of U.S. GAAP.
• Lead and review key elements of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness.
• Help maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and process documentation.
• Partner with Operations, FP&A, and other teams to support accounting needs and provide financial insight.
• Identify and implement process improvements, efficiencies, and automation opportunities.
• Support systems enhancements and broader finance transformation initiatives.
• Review financial results and investigate variances, trends, and potential accounting issues.
• Prepare analysis supporting budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and senior leadership.
• Support reporting requirements within a parent/subsidiary environment, including corporate accounting policies, SOX controls, and consolidation requirements.

Qualifications

• CPA required.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Combination of public accounting and industry experience strongly preferred.
• Big 4 or national public accounting firm experience is a plus.
• Prior experience managing and developing accounting professionals.
• Strong understanding of accounting operations, close, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Experience working within a large, fast-paced, high-growth, or multi-entity organization.
• Experience operating within a parent/subsidiary reporting structure is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting automation is preferred.
• Experience within building products, industrial distribution, manufacturing, construction, or another multi-location business is a plus.
