Job summary

Morgan Hunter is seeking an Accounting Manager in Kansas to oversee day-to-day general ledger accounting and financial reporting, while leading a team of accounting professionals. You will partner with the Controller and finance leaders to strengthen controls, support audits, and drive process improvements, including ERP enhancements and automation initiatives.

You’ll manage month-end close, inventory accounting, and fixed assets, ensuring compliance with U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• CPA certification is required.
• 4+ years of accounting experience, including financial reporting and month-end close.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP required.
• Prior supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
• Public company accounting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a team of 3–4 accounting professionals, including training, coaching, and review of work.
• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Oversee inventory accounting and valuation, including reconciliations and periodic physical inventory counts across multiple locations.
• Review tax and other compliance filings and assist with new reporting requirements.
• Oversee fixed asset and lease accounting and ensure records are complete and accurate.
• Assist with technical accounting research, implementation of new accounting guidance, and development of policies and procedures.
• Provide oversight of accounts payable activity, cash disbursements, and cash receipts.
• Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external audits, including requests related to inventory, revenue recognition, fixed assets, leases, and internal controls.
• Partner with FP&A, operations, procurement, and other departments to support business initiatives and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Participate in ERP enhancements, system implementations, automation initiatives, and other efforts to improve accounting processes and reporting.
• Support special projects and other accounting initiatives as needed.

• Industry/corporate accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with inventory accounting preferred.
• Public company accounting experience is a plus.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP and financial reporting systems.
• Experience with JD Edwards, OneStream, or similar systems is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
