Job summary

Houston Area Women's Center is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee general ledger, grant and revenue recognition, and accrual accounting, while supporting the Controller in daily financial operations. The role requires GAAP knowledge and project/revenue recognition experience, with a focus on accuracy and internal controls.

The position is full-time with a hybrid work model (Houston area). Annual compensation ranges from $86,000 to $90,000, with comprehensive benefits and a 401(k) plan with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Minimum three years of experience in financial reporting and general ledger.
• Minimum three years of experience leading a team with direct reports.
• Intermediate proficiency with ERP/GL systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily accounting operations including the general ledger, accounts receivable, cash management, revenue recognition, and fixed assets.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and management reports in accordance with GAAP.
• Coordinate annual financial audits, Single Audit, and regulatory reporting; support IRS forms 990/5500.

As the Accounting Manager your responsible for all aspects of general ledger accounting, grant and contribution recognition, accrual accounting, and variance analysis.
